A Broken Arrow man is pointing the finger at a federal judge and Congressman John Sullivan. One of Sullivan's new Washington interns is the son of Judge Gregory Frizzell. He's the same judge who stopped construction of the controversial Red Clay Casino.
Judge Frizzell stopped construction of the Red Clay Casino last month, a feat Congressman John Sullivan continues to campaign on, now the judge and the congressman are the subject of scrutiny. Mike Bergman with BA Residents for Red Clay Casino claims there's a conflict of interest between the two. Bergman points to the internship. "I'm shocked. I felt like that would have been something that would have been brought to the attention of the people before the courts ever started," he told Tulsa's Channel 8.
Sullivan's office tells Tulsa's Channel 8 that he accepted Ben Frizzell along with all the other applicants from his district months before the ruling. His office also thinks it's conveniently coming up the day before Sullivan's primary.
Something Bergman denies. "When you spin a web, you can't untangle it, and these people who are misleading people, they will be held accountable. I promise you," said Bergman.
Judge Frizzell's office refused to comment on this story. Tulsa Channel 8 also attempted to get reaction from the tribe behind the Red Clay Casino but those calls were not returned.
