How You Can Prevent Heat-Related Power Outages

A couple of viewers have called Channel 8 to report power outages.

But we checked with PSO, and so far, none of those outages were heat related.

But to prevent future outages, they did have this advice, especially when facing months of high temperatures.

During the hottest part of the day, it is best to not wash or dry your clothes or run the vacuum cleaner.

The demand for energy is the highest midday.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
