Wednesday is Olympic Day! Olympic Day is a celebration of the Olympic spirit, and is celebrated around the globe.
The Tulsa Sports Commission held an Olympic Day 2012 celebration Wednesday morning. The celebration was part of the Olympics' annual effort to engage people in the Olympic movement. Tulsa was not the only city participating, more than 700 locations in nearly every continent celebrated today as well .
The Tulsa's 2012 Olympic Day was held at Whiteside Community Center from 11 a.m. to noon and featured a couple special guests. Victoria Bartlett, the First Lady of Tulsa, participated in the effort as part of Mayor Bartlett's Get Lean Tulsa initiative dedicated to encouraging healthy lifestyles for Tulsans. Joining Mrs. Bartlett was Danny Hodge, professional wrestling star former Olympian and native Oklahoma. He presented attendees with a quick program to encourage kids to utilize sportsmanship, fairness, and to stay physically active.
The Olympics will begin in London July 27th 2012.
