Tulsa County -

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Troop B reports no DUI-related collisions so far since beginning their Tulsa area DUI enforcement project Friday night.

The first span of the DUI enforcement began 7:00 p.m. Friday and wrapped up around 4:00 a.m. Saturday.

OHP focused on I-44 and I-244 from U.S. Highway 75 on the west to U.S. Highway 169 on the east, from U.S. Highway 75 northbound from downtown to the Washington County line, and from U.S. Highway 64/412 from downtown to Keystone Lake.

During the safety briefing prior to the operation, Troopers were instructed to cover lots of ground and to use any means necessary to ensure public safety on their assigned stretches of roadway.

The enforcement did result in 121 vehicles stopped, 11 vehicles stored, 11 DUI arrests, five speeding tickets, 19 tickets for driving under suspended licenses, four tickets for driving without insurance, 15 tickets for driving defective vehicles, and 16 other miscellaneous traffic offenses.

Troopers served one felony warrant and made one misdemeanor drug arrest during their efforts as well.

"These Troopers did their job well and because of their superb efforts, not one person in Tulsa County fell victim to a D-U-I related injury crash," said OHP Lieutenant George Brown.

The July 4th holiday period lasts until midnight Sunday, July 8th.  Another Tulsa area special DUI enforcement project is being planned to bolster traffic safety during this time.
