Man Killed in Jeep Crash

A man died in a collision Sunday morning near Holdenville.

29-year-old Brandon Barnett of Holdenville was driving a 1987 Jeep westbound on County Road 3 when the Jeep drove off the road to the right, hit a ditch, and rolled onto its top—according to an OHP Troop D report.

Barnett was reportedly thrown from the Jeep and pinned underneath.

The accident happened Sunday just before 6:30 a.m., two miles west of Holdenville.

Barnett died at the scene from massive injuries and was taken to Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.

According to the OHP report, Barnett was not wearing his seatbelt.

The road was a two-laned, undivided gravel road.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
