Tulsa -
Southern Hills Baptist Church started celebrating Independence Day Sunday when it hosted a Freedom Celebration. The event began with a concert of patriotic songs in the morning, free lunch, and then a carnival with games and rides in the afternoon.
The musical portion of the event honored the men and women in the church community who have served or are currently serving. Captain Cecil Milligan felt honored to be recognized.
"It's great to hear the army song and so much appreciation for service members past and present here in Oklahoma. It's always great," said Milligan.
Pastor Steve Watkins estimates about 700 people came to the event.
