From now on, most us will have one day a week pick up service.  The new trash collector, New Solutions took over today, and changed pick up days for neighborhoods.

Channel 8's Kim Jackson did some checking, to see how the first day went.

There's been some confusion over trash. Obviously some residents thought today was their day.

"I was thinking, trash usually runs at six. So, why isn't trash ran?" asked a customer named Jennifer. She put her trash out, but it never went anywhere. Many of her neighbors did the same thing.

"We are gonna ask residents to hang on to that trash make sure they know what their collection day is," said Liz Hunt of the City of Tulsa.

Today was the first day of collection for New Solutions. It was the first day of one day a week service in a south Tulsa neighborhood. There, most residents put the carts and trash cans, up right away. And there were only a few bags of trash that missed actual pick up.

But other communities experienced confusion.  Monday used to be pick up day in the Redfork community.

"We hope that residents will take the refuse back up to the house but for some reason if they don't we hope their neighbors will be patient with them," said Hunt.

And it may take patience, because some of this trash will be here, until the trucks come by on Friday.

"Well, yeah, I'm gonna leave til they pick it up. I'm not gonna move it back.  I will leave it out there til they pick it up," said Jennifer.

Residents should have received a letter and a door hanger letting them know their collection date.

So before you drag out the trash, make sure you get the right day. And have it on the curb by 6 a.m.

There are more changes on the way. On the 16th, you will receive new carts.
