Massive Dump Fire Seen and Smelled for Miles

Firefighters have contained a landfill fire that began Monday night.

Tuesday morning, crews continued to battle the smoldering pile of rubbish near 46th Street North and U.S. Highway 169. Officials tell KTUL.com that they thought the flame was extinguished earlier, but they believed it was rekindled early Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday evening, the fire was contained. Dispatch told KTUL.com that there were no crews on the scene, and Tulsa Fire Department public information officer Tim Smallwood told KTUL.com that he had not been told differently.
