Hit And Run Accident Leads To Home Invasion Shooting

A man has been shot after fleeing the scene of an auto accident, and allegedly trying to break into a Tulsa home.  

Tuesday night around 11:30 a Tulsa Police Officer witnessed a hit and run accident near Lewis and Newton. A tow truck that was hauling a van crashed into an SUV.  The driver of the tow truck jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene.  

Moments later, police received a call from a homeowner in that area who said a man was running through her back yard.  Around 11:55 P.M., officers were flagged down by residents who said a shooting that had just occurred.  

When officers arrived to the scene of the shooting, they discovered that the suspect from the hit and run accident had been shot while trying to burst through the door of a home.  The homeowner, who was present at the time, shot the suspect twice in the lower extremities. 

The suspect has been taken to a local hospital.  Authorities tell KTUL.com that his injuries are not life threatening.
