A woman died in a car wreck Wednesday afternoon.

67-year-old Polly McDaniel of Guthrie was riding inside a 1997 Jeep Liberty going northbound on Midwest Boulevard when the Jeep drove off the road to the right, overcorrected, drove off the road to the left, overcorrected again, and rolled 1½ times, landing on its top—according to an OHP report.

Mrs. McDaniel was reportedly pinned for about an hour before authorities arrived.

She was freed from the Jeep by the Guthrie Fire Department using a Hurst tool but was pronounced dead at the scene.

69-year-old Clinton McDaniel of Guthrie, the driver of the Jeep and Mrs. McDaniel's husband, was treated and released at the scene.

The accident happened Wednesday just before Noon, at the intersection of Midwest Boulevard and Simmons Road.

According to the OHP report, both Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel were wearing their seatbelts. Airbags reportedly did not deploy.

Troopers investigating the crash believe Mr. McDaniel may have been distracted by something outside of the Jeep.
