A Pageant Will Emphasize The Strengths Of The Disabled

Posted: Updated:

Ms. Abilities America will be having a pageant from July 5th through the 7th in Tahlequah.

It will take place at the Cherokee County Community Building and the Tahlequah Public Library.

Several different states will be represented, with contestants from as far away as Georgia.

The pageant is for anyone who happens to have a cognitive or physical disability.

The current Ms. Abilities America, Kaprina Boutwell, is from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

The contestants can choose to represent, any state they've resided in during their lives.

That allows for more ladies to compete and opens the doors for more contestants.

The organizers say it's all are about education, achievement, advocacy, mentoring and leadership.

Each contestant does a scrapbook and a display about their state.

They also go through an interview with the judges and do a 3-minute platform speech.

The pageant is being sponsored by a list of businesses in the Tahlequah area.
