OSU Wrestling Heading To The "Big Apple"

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma State wrestling team will compete in the World's Most Famous Arena this season when the Cowboys participate in the Grapple at the Garden on Dec. 16 in New York City's Madison Square Garden.

The nine-team event is headlined by college wrestling giants Oklahoma State and Iowa and also includes Ohio State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Hofstra, Maryland, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Bucknell. It marks the first time in its 133-year history that Madison Square Garden has hosted college dual meets.

"What a great venue for college wrestling," OSU coach John Smith said. "We saw first-hand with the excitement that Coleman Scott generated in Times Square when he earned his spot on the Olympic team that wrestling can create a good buzz in that kind of setting. This will be a special event for the wrestlers and the fans alike and we're excited to be part of it."

Four duals will be wrestled simultaneously at 10:30 a.m. ET and at 12:30 p.m. ET, with the Cowboys sitting out the first session before taking on Chattanooga during the second session.
