Oklahoma Man Accused Of Beating Child, Beheading Puppy

Tahlequah (AP) -

Authorities say a Rose man accused of beating a woman and a child, and decapitating a puppy in front of the girl, has been arrested.

Cherokee County prosecutors have charged Brandon Hubbard with child abuse by injury, cruelty to animals, and domestic assault and battery in the presence of children.

The Tahlequah Daily Press reports that investigators received information that a girl had been beaten with a whip and a broom handle.

Officials say she and another child were present when Hubbard allegedly beat the woman.

Court documents also allege Hubbard grabbed a puppy from the girl, held it down, and decapitated it because the child hadn't cleaned up after the animal.

Hubbard is in the Cherokee County Jail.

A jail employee didn't know if he had an attorney.
