Former Oklahoma Sooner and current Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has been arrested in Houston on a charge of resisting arrest.

Peterson, who is from Palestine, Texas, was arrested outside of Bayou Place - a popular dining and nightlife spot in Downtown Houston's Theatre District.

He left a Houston jail on a $1,000 bond early Saturday morning.

Vikings Team spokesman Bob Hagan said that the team "is aware of the situation and are gathering more information."

UPDATE: According to KTRK in Houston, The Houston Police Department has said Peterson was with a group of people when an off-duty officer working security asked them to leave a bar because it was closing.

Peterson's group did not leave immediately, so the officer asked again.  That's when AD pushed the officer's shoulder, causing him to stumble.

Investigators said the officer then told Peterson he was under arrest and asked him to turn around, but Peterson began yelling and struggling with the officer.

It took three off-duty officers to finally handcuff the Vikings running-back.
