The friends and family of Kayla Ferrante still have more questions than answers. The Tulsa teenager was shot and killed inside a car coming home from a party. So, this weekend some of her friends stepped up to raise money through a garage sale. Organizers say the sale was a simple idea to help their friend.
"Hopefully shake the bushes. Hopefully somebody will come forward with some information," says sale organizer, Kristen Swain.
Swain says they are hoping money will talk. All the items at the garage sale were donated by friends, family, and people that just wanted to help. The money raised will go to the Crime Commission in Kayla Ferrante's name. It will be part of a reward when the right tip comes in. Some of the items at the sale aren't here to bring in big cash but all of it adds up.
"Anything is worth getting justice for her. I want someone to come up and say something if it has to go through money anything is going to help," says sale organizer, Lauren Brown.
There were all kinds of people that showed up to the sale. Some have known Kayla for years and others just wanted to shop. Most just want to keep Kayla in peoples minds.
"We aren't going to forget that this has happened to one ours to Kayla to keep it fresh in everyone's minds and hopefully that they will hear something," says City Councilor, Karen Gilbert.
Gilbert says she knows the Tulsa Police Department is working on all leads that come in. They just need the right tip to follow. Gilbert's daughter went to school with Kayla for years and says this is a reminder to all parents.
"It's a tragedy. It makes you really hang on to your kids and hug them every single day and tell them everyday how much you love them," says Gilbert.
