Tulsa's the new trash schedule is taking some getting used to.

Some residents know first hand ....it stinks.

They're in West Tulsa along 29th West Avenue where in some cases the trash has been sitting out for two days. There's nothing attractive about this site.

"If they could get the trash off the street it'd be nice."

Rob Johnson, has had his trash out since Monday,

"It's frustrating."

Johnson and his neighbors are supposed to be on a Friday pick up schedule.

"It is very frustrating when I come in from work Friday I thought that it'd be gone and I thought for sure Saturday morning It'd be gone but its still here."

District 2 City Councilor Jeannie Cue...

"Yeah it appears that whole neighborhood was not picked up."

Getting a whiff of the trash problem.

"The way its set up for some reason the areas was missed I don't know why. When he city gave them the maps this was apparently not listed."

Translation. It means the trash is still waiting to be picked up.

"I mean it's got flies if we move it back there its got ants all over it somehow or another we gotta get rid of it."

New Solutions is the city's new trash hauler. Not only are Tulsans adjusting to a new hauler, they must also get used to once a week pick up and on a day they may not be used to. In the wrong hands, it can create an even bigger mess.

"Kids getting into it, they come up through here all the time. Dogs scattering it there's no telling what's in people's trash."

After a call to New Solutions, here's the advice from Councilor Cue...be patient.

"This is probably in the worst problem in the whole area neighborhood not being picked up but by them correcting it I think it's going to go smoothly from here on out."

AND WE'RE HAPPY TO REPORT THE TRASH WAS PICKED UP. BUT IN THE FUTURE, ANY CUSTOMER WITH A TRASH-RELATED ISSUE SHOULD CALL THE CITY OF TULSA'S REFUSE SERVICE LINE AT 918-596-9777.
