Eight-year-old Chyann Declue put the finishing touches on some posters Sunday for the big children's cancer fundraiser she's hosting next weekend. The event will raise money for the Toby Keith Foundation, which supports children fighting cancer in Oklahoma.
Chyann plans to shave her head at the fundraiser.
"I'm just really proud of her," said Chyann's mother, Brandy Declue. "I just don't know many 8 year olds who would do this."
Channel 8 asked Chyann why she is willing to shave her head. She told us, "Because it's tough for me to see them [children with cancer] sick."
The event will also feature live bands, food, inflatable jumping games, martial arts demonstrations, a silent auction, and more.
Chyann's father, Tom, is a skin cancer survivor. He has been an outspoken supporter of Ryder Herring, a young boy who recently battled brain cancer. He said he is proud to see his daughter taking an interest in fundraising.
The event will be at Riveted Church in Skiatook Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you cannot attend the event but would like to donate, the Declue family encourages you to drop off your gift at Tom's office at 208 Bulldog Boulevard.
