Claremore Teacher Accused Of Rape

A former Claremore teacher is behind bars after he was charged with having sexual relations with a 14 year old girl.

Mark Buchanan, Choir and Band teacher at Sequoyah Public Schools, was arrested after investigators spoke with his wife. She confirmed that Mr. Buchanan told her he had sex with the girl. He decided to admit his actions to his wife after he discovered the 14 year old might be pregnant.

According to police reports Buchanan and the student allegedly had sex in a closet attached to the choir room. Investigators found numerous texts from Buchanan to the minor along with nude photos of Buchanan.

Mr. Buchanan faces multiple charges, including four counts of first degree rape, six counts of lewd or indecent proposal to a child, and eight counts of sodomy
