Family, Friends Remember Murder Victims

Posted: Updated:

Family and friends gather to remember the victims of a double shooting.

They were gunned down 1 year ago and the killer remains on the loose.

Mourners gathered at the scene of the crime Tuesday night at 53rd and North Hartford.

They released balloons at 7:00 p.m., marking the time the victim's mother received the terrible news.

Kanisha Jackson was a teacher's aide at Hawthorne Elementary School.

The 27-year-old was shot and killed along with her 28-year-old boyfriend Bryan Mitchell.

Jackson's mother, Sheila Jackson Richardson, tells us she just wants closure.

"I struggle every day, hoping that one day she'll come through the door," says Richardson. "Now I know she won't be coming home, so it's very devastating."

Jackson left behind a young daughter.
