Pontotoc Man Sentenced for Drug Conspiracy

A man was sentenced Wednesday on drug a conspiracy charge.

45-year-old Gerald Wayne Braziel Jr. of Pontotoc had been one of 17 people arrested in September 2011 as part of an operation by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to dismantle a large drug network responsible for distributing methamphetamine throughout southern Oklahoma.

Wednesday in Eastern District of Oklahoma Federal District Court, Braziel was sentenced to 97 months in prison, followed by 48 months supervised release.

He was accused of knowingly and intentionally conspire to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a schedule two controlled substance, between October 2010 and September 2011.

Braziel will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated Federal prison at which he will serve his non-parolable sentence.
