Economic Forecasters: Housing Market Has Reached Bottom

Posted: Updated:

Nearly seven years after the housing bubble burst, most indexes show housing
prices are moving up.  A Wall Street Journal survey of forecasters found 44
believe the housing market has reached its bottom - with only three saying
it hasn't.

The biggest threat to prices is the large inventory of homes - such as homes that will be foreclosed on and those already owned by lenders. Government efforts had delayed foreclosures for a while, but now a flood of these homes could reverse the recent rise in prices.
