Kids from the Kravis Summer Arts Camp celebrated Woody Guthrie's one-hundredth birthday on Friday.

The kids learned some Woody Guthrie songs and ate cake in honor of his 100th birthday, which would have been July 14th.

The celebration took place at Will Rogers College High School in the 3900 block of East 5th Place.

Camp Director LeeAnn Macomber said they were trying to help preserve Oklahoma's rich cultural heritage, both Native American and transplanted populations, within new generations of kids.

Next week, the Kravis Summer Arts Camp will be reenacting the Trail of Tears.

Woody Guthrie was an American singer-songwriter born in Okemah, Oklahoma, in 1912.

He was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 1997.
