Oklahoma Drug Officials Dismantle Meth Ring

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma drug officials are saying that they have stopped a large meth ring in central Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics reports that they served 30 arrest warrants Monday morning.  These arrests were made as part of a yearlong undercover operation the OBN conducted with federal officials.

Mark Woodward, OBN spokesperson said, "Last summer, we identified a large group of individuals bringing significant quantities of Mexican-produced methamphetamine into central Oklahoma for distribution.  These shipments would include as much as 10 pounds of meth each week.  So, this network was considered a major supplier of meth throughout central Oklahoma."

Over the past year, Woodward says Agents targeted and identified those individuals tied to this meth network, and now they are cracking down.

As of noon today 17 defendants were in custody and were transported to the Oklahoma County Jail where they will face a variety of charges including Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine.
