Police continue to investigate an accident on I-244 that left one man dead.
It happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say the driver was heading east on I-244. As he got to the 41st West Avenue bridge, his truck went off the highway, into the grass and into the center median. His truck hit the bridge support pole causing it to spin. The driver was thrown about 30 feet away from his vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the man as 50-year-old Kenneth Brooks.
The eastbound lanes on the highway were shut down causing traffic to be backed up.
Police are unsure what caused the driver to go off the road.
