North Tulsa -

A young man was shot Wednesday evening by his father.

A 19-year-old man was reportedly shot by his father in the 1500 block of North Phoenix Avenue just before 6:45 p.m.

According to Tulsa Police Captain Karen Tipler, the 19-year-old had been arguing with his mother throughout the day Wednesday before the father stepped in to stop the argument.

The argument between the young man and his father then went outside.

Capt. Tipler said the father produced a gun and shot his son in the stomach and leg.

The father then fled the scene in a gray Dodge Quad Cab.

"We are still investigating things right now," Tipler told Tulsa's Channel 8's crew on the scene.

"We know that at some point, he's coming back home because this is his castle," Tipler said. "We are very certain that he is going to return home."

Tipler said a 3-year-old child was inside the home with the mother when the father shot the son.

The 19-year-old was taken by EMSA to Saint John Medical Center in serious condition.
