Ms. Liberty Belle
Downtown Tulsa -
A specially-trained bed bug detection dog completed her inspection in Tulsa's Central Library Wednesday night.
Tulsa City-County Library spokesperson John Fancher announced just before 7:45 p.m. that Ms. Liberty Belle had completed her search of the first four floors.
Ms. Liberty Belle works for K9 Special Forces, LLC, based out of Norman.
Fancher said the bed bugs appeared to be isolated to the area first identified, on several chairs on the third floor.
The Central Library had shut down Tuesday as a precaution.
It will remain closed through Thursday, when licensed professionals will treat the third floor.
The library will reopen Friday at 9:00 a.m.
Bed bugs are parasitic insects that feed on blood.
In 2007, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enacted a full ban on Propoxur, a chemical pesticide used to treat bed bugs, because of harmful side-effects in children.
