East Tulsa -
A man is dead after allegedly shooting at police, early Thursday morning. Police blocked off several intersections in the 16th Street and 109th East Avenue area, searching for the man.
Channel 8's Kim Jackson says the dramatic story starts where you least expected it.
The suspect reportedly fired shots at two different officers but the very first shot was fired in a donut shop, and there is a bullet hole as evidence.
The suspect was the first customer-at Daylight Donuts, at Admiral and Garnett.
"He was acting like a nice fellow you know," said owner, Randy Tankerslay, who said the man asked to use the bathroom, for juice and a creme donut.
"When the lady was going back to get it, he jumped into the back and he said, 'It's not about this.' He said I want your money as quick as you can get it and he pulled out a gun and shot a hole in the ceiling," said Tankerslay, who put his register money in a bag.
The suspect reportedly made everyone, including Don and Gail, married 52 years, lay down, while took off.
They called 9-1-1 and a police officer on the way--saw the man.
"She turns around and as she gets out tells individual to stop he turns around and fires at least six rounds at her. The vehicles been struck, you can see twice," said Leland Ashley of the Tulsa Police Department.
Police blocked off the neighborhood where the man had reportedly run. At some point they say he shot at another officer, before they took him down.
No one else was injured---and back at the donut shop, they're shaken but thankful. They did not lose very much.
"Oh about a hundred and five dollars. I mean it aint worth dying for that."
The owner should get his one hundred dollars back, once the case is closed.
