Heart Attack Leads to Fatal Crash

A man is dead following an accident Thursday afternoon.

53-year-old William I. Newbolt of Anadarko was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang westbound on U.S. Highway 62 when the car ran off the road to the left, crossed the center median and eastbound lanes, re-entered the median, crossed the westbound lanes, and landed in a ditch—according to an OHP Troop G report.

Mr. Newbolt reportedly lost control of the Ford when he suffered a heart attack.

The accident happened Thursday, just before 4:30 p.m. one mile east of Verden.

Newbolt was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical examiner.

He was taken to Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha.

The OHP report indicated that he had not been wearing his seatbelt and that airbags did not deploy.
