Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for one of the Best Buy shooting victims.

Services for 58-year-old G. Wesley Brown were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in the 1300 block of South Boston Avenue.

The Rev. Dr. William Tankersley III delivered the eulogy.

Mr. Brown was with his daughter, Madeline Rose Brown, when he was hit by a stray bullet that passed through a window pane from a parking lot into the Best Buy store in the 5500 block of East Skelly Drive just after 2:00 p.m. on July 14th.

34-year-old Scott Norman was also killed during that shooting. Police believed Norman was the intended victim and that Brown's death was unintentional.

Saturday's service for Mr. Brown was a private funeral for family members and close friends only.

Mr. Brown's sister, Anitra Brown, told KTUL.com that Madeline turned 11 years old on Friday.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett attended Saturday's services for Mr. Brown.

Mayor Bartlett said that Rev. Tankersley spoke very well about Wesley Brown and the love he had for his family, particularly Madeline. "He contrasted that very positive, loving man with gangs."

"They were so pleased about our Tulsa Police Department and how helpful they were," said Bartlett about the Brown family.

Bartlett said community involvement is needed to get Tulsa's gang problem under control. "A no snitch, no tell attitude that some people still have in this community must go away," said Bartlett.

Teal ribbons were placed strategically around the church and around Mr. Brown's neighborhood in awareness of violence.

A memorial fund has been set up for Brown's daughter. To help, people may donate to the Madeline Rose Brown Education Fund by sending donations to Bank of Oklahoma at P.O. Box 1300 in Tulsa or by dropping off donations at any Bank of Oklahoma branch.
