North Tulsa -
The Tulsa Fire Department is investigating a building fire early Sunday morning as suspicious.
Firefighters responded to a fire at Chart Cooling Systems in the 5600 block of East Independence Street just after 4:30 a.m.
TFD Captain Stan May told KTUL.com that the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes and that it was contained to the employee break room.
The fire reportedly originated in an employee's locker in the break room.
According to Capt. May, Tulsa Fire investigators are treating the fire as suspicious because the building's front door was open, and vending machines appeared to be vandalized.
The Tulsa Police Department reportedly arrived on the scene just before 5:30 a.m. in response to a burglary call.
Capt. May said an engine company remained with a Fire investigator until 7:00 a.m.
Due to smoke damage throughout the building, the estimated loss is $15,000.
