A woman is dead following an SUV accident Friday afternoon.

64-year-old Thomas Joe Holman of Bristow was driving a 2002 Nissan SUV that was towing a 16-foot tandem axle trailer northbound on State Highway 48 when the SUV ran off the road to the right, hit a mailbox, continued through a ditch, and hit another tree, coming to rest on its top—according to an OHP Troop B report.

59-year-old Diane Sue Holman of Bristow, the passenger, was reportedly pinned for over two hours before being freed by the Mannford Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.

Mrs. Holman died at the scene due to massive injuries.

Mr. Holman was taken by Mannford EMS to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition with an arm injury.

The accident happened just before 2:00 p.m. Friday, just north of County Road 61st Street South.

According to the OHP report—neither of the Holmans were wearing seatbelts, but airbags did deploy.

Troopers believe that Mr. Holman fell asleep at the wheel.
