Running enthusiasts took part in the 2012 TATUR Mud Run on Saturday, plowing through old-fashioned Oklahoma mud.

The Tulsa Area Trail and Ultra Runners (TATUR) adult Mud Run was a 1.5 mile frolic through muddy obstacles, and the TATUR Tots Mud Run was about 0.5 mile.

Some of the obstacles included super slip-and-slides, a hill climb, a tummy crawl, and a tire dive.

All fitness levels were qualified to compete, as none of the obstacles required a great deal of physical strength.

The run began at 11:00 a.m. at 31st Street South and East Garnett Road in Tulsa.

The Mud Run included a costume contest, live music by Sextion 8, and guest appearances by Hooters employees and Tulsa firefighters.

Adult runners were offered two free beers.

The first 1500 entrants received official Mud Run T-shirts.

Proceeds benefited the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp.
