Six Bartlesville-area men have been named in a grand jury indictment alleging the theft of various livestock-breeding modes of transportation.
The Thirteenth Multicounty Grand Jury indictment, unsealed in Washington County District Court on Friday, names 72-year-old Phillip Howard Hawk, 65-year-old Coy Leroy Short, 55-year-old Joseph E. Fairchild, 48-year-old Stevie Starks, 64-year-old George E. Baker, and 39-year-old Kory Lowell Pierson.
The six men are accused of conspiring to steal tractors, all-terrain vehicles, horse trailers, and stock trailers in Green Country.
They have been charged with concealing or receiving stolen or embezzled construction or farm equipment; obtaining money, property, or things of value by false pretense; possession of a stolen or converted vehicle or implement or husbandry; possession of a vehicle without a VIN number; conspiracy to violate the crime of receiving or concealing stolen farm equipment; and racketeering.
A court document indicates that the prosecution has 55 witnesses.
The six men are facing penalties such as imprisonment up to ten years and fines up to $500,000.
