Authorities Arrest Suspect in Shooting Near Vian

Authorities in Sequoyah County have arrested a suspect in a homicide that occurred Saturday evening near Vian.

According to our ABC sister-station KHBS/KHOG in Fort Smith, the victim was identified as 31-year-old Stanley Leon Ross.

He reportedly had a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) told KHBS/KHOG that they arrested James Arthur Moffett at the scene for negligent homicide and public intoxication.

Deputies have possession of the firearm they believe was used in the incident.

According to SCSO, alcohol may have played a role in the shooting.

Ross' body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
