Tulsa -
A woman was arrested Saturday night for suspected child abuse.
24-year-old Lashonda Tashia Cummings is accused of beating her 3-year-old daughter.
Tulsa Police Dispatch reportedly received a call that a woman had been seen kicking a 3-year-old girl down a stairwell and beating her with a belt.
Police arrived at the Highland Park Apartments in the 5500 block of East 47th Place just before 7:00 p.m. and heard a child crying inside Ms. Cummings' apartment.
When officers knocked on the door, Cummings reportedly barely cracked the door open and asked what they wanted.
According to the arrest report, Cummings stated, "If you don't have a warrant, you can't come in" and then shut and locked the door.
Officers reportedly told Cummings that they were entering her apartment due to the urgency of assuring the safety of the child, so Cummings let them in.
They reportedly found the 3-year-old girl covered with a blanket, shaking and bleeding from multiple lacerations on her back, shoulders, arm, and head.
Police took Cummings into custody and booked her into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to the arrest report, Cummings was an ex-con with outstanding warrants.
Cummings has been charged with one felony count of child abuse after a former conviction of a felony, as well as six misdemeanor counts related to motor vehicle violations.
Her bond was set at $100,000.
