Sand Springs Homeowners Fight Back Against Would-Be Burglar

A man is hospitalized and could be facing charges after attempting to burglarize a home in Sand Springs late Sunday Night.

The incident started in the 4800 block of South 112th West Avenue around 10 o'clock. Police say a man attempted to break into a home there. The homeowners then fired several gunshots causing the would-be burglar to flee.

Sand Springs Police caught up to the suspect and his vehicle near the Gilcrease Expressway Extension and West 41st Street in Berryhill.

According to officers on scene, the suspect appeared to have some sort of wound on his leg. Officers say it's uncertain whether or not the wound was the result of a gunshot or something else.

The suspect was transported by EMSA to an area hospital to be checked out.

Police say he'll be detained on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
