Tulsa Police have gotten a lot of accolades lately for solving several high profile murders...from the Good Friday shootings to Best Buy, but several other cases still remain unsolved..including one three days before Christmas.
Seven months have passed since Peggy Gaytan was killed working overnight at this gas station. Who did it and why are questions Tulsa Police say they don't have answers for.
"It has been very hard, very hard."
Greg Gaytan and Peggy were married for 23 years, divorced but remained friends. Now Greg is raising Peggy's granddaughter Summer.
"She tells me don't cry Poppy but I cannot help it many times."
It was a robbery gone bad and ended with Peggy getting killed.
"It's still open and under active investigation."
Sgt. Dave Walker determined that someone knows something.
"I will tell you this. I will take a phone call to Crimestoppers saying this is where you need to look, that rock needs to be kicked over, we'll go kick it over, and we're asking for that to happen."
The suspect pool is small. Walker says they had a good lead last week but that suspect was already in jail at the time of Peggy's murder.
"To Peggy's family, we're still working it. It still gets kicked around in our weekly meeting, we ask where we're at, we see if there's leads we need to go over, review the video again and again, and we look at other reports of other robberies that come in."
For the family and friends left behind, they tell me they visit her grave often. A headstone is expected to be ready in the next week.
If you have information about this case, call Crimestoppers at 596-cops. Peggy's family, friends and this neighborhood association thanks you.
