Posted: Updated:

A popular North Tulsa community leader is shot in a home invasion early Tuesday morning.

Tulsa police were called to the home of Kenneth Brooks, who they say was shot.

Brooks told police he heard a knock at the door, and when he went to answer it he recognized a neighbor's 16-year-old daughter standing on the other side. He opened the door to find out what the teenager needed, and when he did so a man kicked in the door and shot Brooks.

Investigators tell us Brooks is expected to survive. They have the teenage girl in custody. They are still searching for the accused shooter.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers 918-596-COPS.
