Voluntary Water Restrictions For Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow -

Due to the extreme heat and drought conditions, the demand for water in Broken Arrow is taxing the city's capacity to deliver water to its customers.

As a result, a voluntary water conservation order is being issued. Both Sunday and Monday have been record setting days for water consumption.

On Sunday, July 29, 26.5 million gallons were delivered to customers and on Monday, July 30, 26.4 million gallons were delivered.

In addition, July has exceeded any previous month with 700 million gallons delivered.

Beginning August 1st residents and businesses are asked to limit lawn and grounds watering to every other day.

Customers with an even numbered address are asked to water only on even numbered dates while customers with odd numbered addresses are asked to water only on odd numbered dates.

Customers are also asked to water only during the hours of midnight to noon.

The City has implemented several steps to curtail its water usage. These steps include:

Limited fairway watering to every other day at Battle Creek Golf Club
Limited watering to every other day of all sports fields
Limiting watering to the hours of midnight to noon
Closing all neighborhood spray pools
Aquatic facilities will remain open as both pools operate on a closed water system.

These conservation steps are in effect until further notice.
