Former Checotah Teacher Found Guilty of Rape

A former Checotah teacher was found guilty of rape Wednesday afternoon.

Michelle Diane McCutchan was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy between December 2010 and May 2011.

She was suspended from her job shortly after her arrest in May.

McCutchan had her initial preliminary hearing on July 20, 2011.

During her plea hearing on Wednesday, McCutchan waived a jury trial.

She was found guilty of multiple felony counts including second-degree rape, sodomy, and furnishing alcoholic beverages to a person under the age of 21.

McCutchan's sentencing hearing is set for September 5th at 2:00 p.m.
