Woman Escapes Early Morning House Fire

Posted: Updated:

Extreme heat overnight challenges Tulsa firefighters as they fight a midtown house fire.

TFD crews got the call just after 1:20am Thursday. Neighbors saw flames shooting from the roof of a home near 700 S. Richmond Avenue.

A woman who lives there got out unharmed.

Fire investigators say the blaze was mostly contained to the attic. There was some smoke and water damage to the home's interior. They will work further to determine the cause.

No one was hurt.

Tulsa Fire district chief Mike Graves said additional fire trucks and crews were called to the scene to help because of the extreme heat overnight. Temperatures held around 95 degrees overnight.

The extra firefighters were there to rotate in and out to prevent heat exhaustion. None of the crews were adversely affected by the high temperature.
