Glenpool -

A grass fire broke out in Glenpool Thursday evening.

Fire crews from Glenpool, Bixby, Liberty Mounds, and Keifer responded to a grass fire near West 126th Street and Longhorn Court around 5:30 p.m.

"We got a phone call saying that there was a plume of smoke," said Glenpool city official Lea Ann Golden. "At that point, we didn't know what it was."

Once the fire crew got out here, they determined that it was probably caused by a downed power line.

Ms. Golden told Tulsa's Channel 8's crew at the scene that the fire was contained and that they were putting out hot spots. She added that no structures were damaged.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) representative Karen Kurtz told KTUL.com that local authorities advised them of "several poles and a line down." Fortunately, OG&E only received one report of a power outage in the Glenpool area Thursday evening.

Ms. Golden from the City of Glenpool wanted to remind the public that Tulsa County currently has a burn ban.
