South Tulsa -
Uniform stores told Channel 8 Friday they are seeing sales double or triple during Oklahoma's sales tax holiday.
Both K. Renee's Uniform Closet and C&J School Uniforms said they have been very busy with customers during the sales tax holiday. Some of the increased traffic comes from Tulsa Public Schools requiring about 40,000 students to wear uniforms. However, a lot of the business is because families are hoping to save money with the sales tax holiday.
The Herrig family came to K. Renee's Uniform Closet to pick out about ten pieces of clothing for Aubrey, who will be a junior in high school.
"It's so much money off," said Judy Herrig, Aubrey's mother. "You're talking nine cents on a dollar, so you're talking quite a savings there."
Channel 8 talked with a mother who bought two shirts for her son. She saved five dollars at the register.
Everyone Channel 8 spoke with seemed to support schools mandating uniforms. Many said they feel they save money buying uniforms instead of new, trendy clothes. They said the additional money they save during this tax free weekend is a bonus.
According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the sales tax holiday ends at midnight Sunday.
