A man was arrested Thursday evening in connection with an alleged rape of a minor.

28-year-old Chad Wesley Harlan is accused of raping a minor female on July 20th.

The girl said that "Damian" was supposed to have given her a ride home from Wal-Mart at 5505 West Owen K. Garriott Road but, instead, drove her to a nearby parking lot and then raped her in the backseat of his car.

Enid police were called to 813 East Cherry on Thursday because they were told that someone matching the description of the suspect in this case was there.

Officers arrived and located a maroon Lincoln Town car matching the description of the suspect's car.

Officers attempted to speak to Harlan, but he jumped a fence and fled on foot.

Police found Harlan at a nearby residence drinking from a water hose at a residence, having apparently suffered heat stroke.

Harlan was transported to INTEGRIS Bass Baptist Health Center, where he was treated and released.

Police arrested Harlan for first-degree rape and took him to the Garfield County Detention Facility.

"Within hours of local and state media publishing photos of the suspect," said Enid Police Chief Brian O'Rourke, "we started to receive information through Text a Tip."
