Oologah Event Will Celebrate Aviation

Posted: Updated:

This coming Sunday, August 12th, the skies over Rogers County will be filled with unique aircraft.

The Will Roger & Wiley Post Fly-in will attract close to 100 planes to the runway at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch.

The event runs from about 8:30 am to around 1:00 pm depending on the heat.

That's because many of the pilots like to head home before the hottest part of the day.

The fly-in celebrates Oklahoma's contribution to aviation and it remembers the crash that took the lives of Rogers and Post in August of 1935.

Visitors are welcomed to the airfield free of charge.

While they're visiting they can see the planes up close and talk with the pilots, about the machines and what it's like to fly them.

The ranch is just northeast of Oologah on 380 road.

The 380 intersects with U.S. 169, just north of Oologah-Talaah Highs School.

Take 380 east, about 2-miles, to the fly-in.
