Residents are picking up the pieces after a mid-morning blaze gutted part of a South Tulsa Apartment Complex.

Firefighters were called to the Fairmont Terrace Apartments near 61st & Riverside around ten o'clock, Monday Morning. Smoke from the fire was visible as far away as West Tulsa.

Stan May with the Tulsa Fire Department tells KTUL.com, that twelve of the building's 24 units were "heavily damaged" by the fire. May says that firefighters had to be pulled out of the building for a short while after air conditioning units mounted on the roof began falling in.

Another concern for firefighters, May tells us, was making sure the fire did not breach a firewall and further damage another part of the complex.

EMSA transported at least four people to area hospitals, including a woman in her 20's and a man in his 30's. Two Tulsa Firefighters were also transported. The Tulsa Fire Department tells KTUL.com that none of the injuries appear to be serious.

At last check, fire investigators were en route to the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The Red Cross is on scene helping those displaced by the fire.
