Neighbors Hoping To Curb Tulsa's Violence

Posted: Updated:

Community leaders gather to figure out how to curb the violence across Tulsa.

The Florence Park Neighborhood Association hosted an event at 17th and S. Harvard.

It's called "Deal With the Teal," which was Wes Brown's favorite color.

He was the innocent by-stander shot and killed during the Best Buy shooting in midtown on July 14.

Brown served as treasurer with the neighborhood association.

They brought in City Councilor Blake Ewing and several police officers to speak to concerned citizens.

"We want to get it back to where it used to be, not all that long ago, where you could walk in the parks, go shopping, not have to look over your shoulder," says neighborhood association president Lance Woolsey.

The intended target of the Best Buy shooting was gang member Scott Norman.

Willie Wise and Jeremy Foster are facing first degree murder charges for the double shooting.
