Missing Bixby Mother Misses Family Milestones

A missing Bixby woman's family is still looking for answers in its mother's disappearance.

The family told Channel 8 Wednesday that 48-year-old Kelley Harris missed her son's wedding and the birth of her first grandchild over the past few weeks.

"I feel really bad for her, because I think that's one big thing, having your mom there for your first baby, for any baby," said Bradney Chitwood, Harris's son.

Harris was last seen July 3rd when she was preparing to throw a party for the Fourth. A short time later, police found her car abandoned at Bristol Park Apartments.

Since that time, there have not been many leads in the investigation. Bixby Police told Channel 8 it is now working with Crime Stoppers to share Harris's story. Doing this will allow for anonymous calls and rewards for information. Also, police conducted DNA tests with Harris's family to be able to potentially identify her body if the worst has happened.

"I don't think that we ever give up hope," said Detective Andy Choate. "You know, we're prepared for the worst. We always hope for the best."

Family members said they are still hopeful but understand that Harris may not be coming home, given the amount of time that has passed.

Husband Robert Harris said, "One way or another, we need her home. We've got to get her home."

Please contact Detective Andy Choate with any information you might have regarding this investigation at (918) 366-0445. You may also call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
