Sooners Land Cover of SI's College Football Preview

Posted: Updated:

Sports Illustrated placed University of Oklahoma senior quarterback Landry Jones on one of the publication's five regional covers for its annual college football preview issue that is available on newsstands today.

The Sooners are ranked fifth in the SI preseason poll, while Jones was named to the magazine's preseason Heisman candidate last. Oklahoma football has now been the subject of an SI cover on 32 occasions.

Already on the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien and Walter Camp Awards lists, Jones leads all active NCAA players with 12,379 career passing yards and 93 career touchdowns. He enters the season tied with current OU running backs coach Cale Gundy (1990-93) for most career starts by a quarterback at OU with 37 and is just three wins away from tying Steve Davis (1973-75) for the OU career victories record of 32 wins.
