Oklahoma City -
A crash left two people dead and ruptured a gas line early Saturday morning.
Police told ABC sister station KOCO that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling at speeds over 100 mph when he collided with an SUV leaving a 7-Eleven store.
Authorities said the crash knocked over a traffic signal, causing the traffic signal to fall on a high-pressure natural gas regulator.
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, at the intersection of Northwest 10th Street and County Line Road.
The driver of the SUV and a passenger both died at the scene, but the driver of the truck fled on foot.
The two people who died, Joshua Wright and Tammie Long, were both from Oklahoma City.
A police helicopter found the driver of the truck, 24-year-old Eric Christopher Bowman, hiding in a nearby field.
Mr. Bowman is from Parker, Colorado.
Investigators suspected that alcohol and speeding may have played roles in the fatal crash.
Bowman was booked just after 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
He is being held without bond on two counts of second-degree murder, one count of driving with a revoked license, one count of leaving the scene of a collision involving death, one count of reckless driving, and one count of speeding.
